Sunset Kennels goes Hunting

Buguya Jack Russells

You want to Hunt (as applied to Australia)

So you want to hunt.  First things first.  Ring your local RSPCA and ask what the  current regulations are for Hunting a dog against other animals.  I think you will be surprised.

Still interested.  Consult the links page and get in touch with your local clubs secretaries.  Ask for the numbers of any experienced owners that hunt their JRT's.  If you strike it lucky you should end up with a few hunting buddies to wander in the bush with.   Try to learn from your new buddies what is required and stick to it.

Get a copy of the Down to Earth magazine and read the  Code of ethics for hunting, and abide by them.

Get a copy of the remedies for snake bite to your Jack Russell Terrier.  Assemble a first aid kit for your dog's and carry it with you when you enter the bush (always).  A first aid kit for yourself would be handy as well (see St Johns).

Consult the local vets of your hunt area about the condition of the local rabbits and fox's.  You may be getting your dog a bad case of mange, ticks or fleas.   You should know how to treat all three.

Always take a spade.

Always take a mate

Always take a first aid kit for the dogs and the humans including a snake bite kit.  Let someone responsible know where you will be and don't get side tracked to some other place.
